Culinary Training

If you already have a culinary background, you have a leg up in this industry as the food customarily served to passengers on business jets is akin to the food served at five star restaurants. Still, it is important for the successful candidate to know how to order catering, how to accurately plate food, understand what exemplary food service is, know proper food handling and safety techniques, and have a strong background in wine service. There is no such designation recognized by the FAA. People take training to learn the skills necessary to work private jet cabins and galleys as well as to give them an edge when it comes to hiring. Most people who call themselves corporate flight attendants pay for their own training which can cost them upwards of $5000. There is no guarantee that you will find employment once you complete your training either.

There are many free market aircraft manufacturers working extremely hard to make small jet aircraft more affordable and efficient. This goes along with the new theory of Air-Taxi type travel as an alternative to flying large business jets, which use lots of fuel and are very expensive. NASA is assisting in this strategy and handing down its technologies into the aviation market place to insure that this comes about faster. Fractional flying, you say. Is that division? Well, sort of. Fractional flying is where you, the customer, can own a "share" in a private jet. In most cases these shares allow you to own as much as 1/4 to as little as 1/32 of a 40 million dollar private jet. Where full ownership may be out of reach for you fractional ownership may be the best option to getting you in the air. Let's take a look at four companies offering fractional flying in the US.

1. Netjets. Richard Santulli is the brainchild behind modern fractional jet flying as he founded Netjets on this principle in 1986. The concept has grown from selling shares in a few jets to selling shares in sixteen different models. 4. CitationShares. Launched in 2000 as a joint partnership between TAG Aviation, an aircraft management and operations company, and the Cessna Aircraft Company. CitationShares features three Citation models produced by aircraft manufacturer Cessna: the CJ1, the Bravo, and the Excel.
